Laser Hair Removal

The average American woman spends just over $10,000 on shaving products in their lifetime and $23,000 if they wax. Body hair can become a nuisance and an expense when you like to be hair-free. Laser hair removal is an excellent option for avid waxers and shavers. It requires less maintenance and is more effective.

Laser hair removal precisely targets hair follicles with highly concentrated light beams. The heat of the laser damages and destroys the hair follicle. When the hair follicles are damaged, the hair lightens and becomes much finer than before. After a course of treatment, the hair follicles will become so damaged that they cease to grow at the treatment site.

At LJ Aesthetics Medicine, our team of skilled aestheticians offer laser hair removal treatments on areas of the face and body. The most common treatment areas include:

Lip and chin
Bikini line
Brazillian
Underarms
Arms
Back
Legs
Chest
Shoulders

During your consultation, one of our highly qualified skincare professionals will evaluate your hair and skin to see if you are a good candidate. Then, your aesthetician will customize a laser hair removal plan to achieve optimal results. You won’t regret saying goodbye to waxing and shaving for good!

FAQ's

At LJ Aesthetics Medicine, we use a state-of-the-art laser hair removal device called DiolazeXL. Our diode lasers provide pinnacle energy in an easy-to-use device for the most effective laser hair removal treatment on coarse and stubborn hair. DiolazeXL has built-in protection mechanisms to ensure your treatment is comfortable and relatively pain-free.

Unfortunately, only some are good candidates for laser hair removal. The best candidates are those with light skin and dark hair. Because the laser destroys the hair follicle by targeting hair pigment, it cannot discern between skin pigment and hair pigment, leaving those with more melanin at risk for burns and unsatisfactory results.

Laser hair removal is not painful, but it can be uncomfortable. The laser feels similar to the snap of a rubberband against the flesh. Any pain or discomfort is momentary and should not last longer than a few seconds.

You may become itchy after your laser hair removal treatment as part of a histamine reaction which is completely normal. It can be mildly uncomfortable but is often effectively treated by wearing loose clothing and applying aloe vera. If you experience any pain, please call us immediately.

Your skilled aesthetician will help you create a treatment plan to eradicate existing hair. After a course of six to eight treatments, you should see the results you desire. However, some hair follicles are thicker and darker than others and require more treatments to achieve the desired results.

Maintenance appointments are required every six months to a year. However, the hair regrowth will be significantly lighter and finer than before you began laser hair removal treatment.

A typical laser hair removal course consists of six to eight treatments spaced six weeks apart. Most patients report significant results in hair texture and volume after three treatments.
